Belgian painter Albert Dupuis, born in Haine-Saint-Pierre, was a painter of abstract compositions, figures, nudes and fantastical and symbolist scenes. He was also a philologist, author and poet.
He received his artistic training at the Academy of Brussels (1952-54) under Georges De Vlamynck. He was later appointed councillor at A. Malraux's cabinet in Paris.
Initially abstract, his works evolved towards a more symbolist elaboration of themes borrowed from various cultures. In 1967, he developed a personal etching technique.
One of his realisations was the triptych 'Europe between two Worlds' for the Sheraton Hotel in Brussels.
Retrospectives of Albert Dupuis took place at the Charlier Museum in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode in 1970 and 1979.
