Boudewijn Tuerlinckx was born in Mechelen in 1873 and will die there in 1945. According to some sources, he is the son of Mechelen sculptor Joseph Tuerlinckx, although Boudewijn Tuerlinckx was born in the year of Joseph Tuerlinckx's death and the latter was already 64 years old at the time.
He learnt the trade of sculptor at the' Mechelen Academy' where, between 1885 and 1895, he was taught by Jan Willem Rosier and V. Van Dyck. He would complete his training at the academy in Brussels, where he was taught by the sculptor Charles van der Stappen. He would later teach himself to, among others, the sculptor Pieter-Bertrand Vanhumbeeck (1888-1965).
Several Belgian public monuments are by his hand:
At the Mechelen cemetery, a monument from 1928-1929 by Boudewijn Tuerlinck adorns the military court of honour. And the Art Nouveau monument by architect Vandenberg is adorned with a sculpture by his hand.
In the Saint Ursula Institute in Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe-Waver, when ascending the honorary staircase, there is a "Madonna and Child" which is also a work by him.
